We are a group of girls from diverse backgrounds who found each other living in the same town while on a posting for a major Oil and Gas company. The connection was immediate and over the past 7 years we have supported one another through personal and professional changes, both big and small. We have been each other’s sounding boards, cheerleaders, mentors, role models, technical coaches, stylists, bridesmaids and psychologists. We are engineers and one architect and our mission is to share our stories, thoughts, challenges and successes in the hope that it continues the dialogue around promoting technical careers for women and some of the influencing factors which allow us to succeed or feel held back in what are primarily male dominated environments. We want to share as many stories and profiles as possible of impressive, real women in technical professions in order to break down stereotypes such as the “female engineer”, the “successful careerwoman” or the “working mother” and all the assumptions which surround them. Because really, there is no stereotype! It’s just us. And we are here to support each other.
We believe that by connecting women across all levels of their careers in STEM fields, there will be enough role models at all different levels to inspire and promote a sustained career at all stages of our life no matter what our challenge of the moment is.
